5 best Sony cameras

Sony

There is no need to introduce you to Sony, right? Their products range from TVs to audio, video game consoles, and more. Sony’s camera department is equally important, and the Japanese brand has become well known in the Photography world as of late.

Sony offers stunning design, build, and photo quality. Their array of lenses may not be as wide as the competitors’, but they do offer some great quality. And the list continues to grow, now also getting more support from third parties.

Looking to get yourself a new Sony camera? They have offers in all categories, so look no further than this post to figure out the best Sony camera for your needs.

Sony DSC H300

Though pretty much any decent smartphone can take a great shot nowadays, some would still prefer getting a nice, dedicated camera with more features and better quality photos. The Sony DSC H300 is a reliable shooter with a low $179.99 price point.

The 20.1MP sensor measures in at 0.31 inches. That’s really not much to write home about, but there are some features that do position this camera well above its smartphone competitors. Its focus range is as low as 1 cm, which means it could be great for macro photos. In addition, it has 35x optical zoom, which is unheard of in any mobile device.

Sony RX0 II

Sony RX0 II

Though GoPro rules this market, Sony is no stranger to the action camera business. This little  Sony camera is not cheap at $699.99, but you will get plenty for the extra investment. It has a large 15.3MP, 1-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor. It also features a quality 24mm, F/4, wide-angle ZEISS Tessar lens. Of course, being an action camera it is water and crush-proof, so you can take it on all your adventures.

What will really get you going is that this second iteration of the series now comes improved with… a flippy screen! Packed with 4K recording capabilities, wireless features, up to 1000fps shooting, and a plethora of accessories, this camera could be a beauty for the adventure buff.

Sony RX100 VI

The RX 100 series is a favorite among professionals who want both compactness and quality. It is for times when carrying a heavy system is not the best bet. It is also not affordable at $1,199.99, but users who take advantage of its full potential deem it worth every single penny.

If you are looking to spend less you can also look at previous iterations; the first RX100 currently goes for $369.99. Some would actually prefer the older versions, as they had an f/1.8 aperture. The latest iteration has a max aperture of f/2.8, but they did include a zoom lens that reaches up to 74mm (as opposed to 25.7mm).

Other features include a 20.1MP, 1-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor, 0.03-second AF response, 315 focal-plane phase-detection AF points, an electronic viewfinder, touchscreen, 4K HDR video recording, and more. It is a total gem.

Sony A7 III

The Sony A7 III offers some of the best bang for the buck in full frame.

Edgar Cervantes

This Sony camera came busting doors and I would say it was the first to really challenge the camera giants in the industry. Priced at $1,999.99 for the body only, it is not cheap, but this camera is meant for professionals and hard-core enthusiasts. It offers some of the best bang for the buck when it comes to full frame shooters.

Its superior image quality, speed, great autofocus, and smooth image stabilization are some of the factors that make it an industry hit. More serious photographers can also get the A7R III, which has a 40.2 MP sensor and superior features, but we don’t think those are worth the extra $1200 unless you are really dedicated to this art.

Sony A6500

Full frame cameras are expensive, so we thought adding a good APS-C sensor camera would be a good idea. Those looking for a good Sony camera with a more affordable price tag can go for a Sony A6500, which costs $1,199.99. For an even more affordable version you can go with a previous generation; the A6000 continues to be a popular option and costs only $549.99.

That’s it for our guide to the best Sony cameras. Which Sony camera are you going for? Is there another Sony shooter you would add to this list? I believe the RX1 deserves a mention, but now that more mirrorless, full frame cameras are around, I feel it no longer deserves a mention in this top list.
