The Bixby button is a subject of controversy. It’s a neat idea and all, but most people don’t like Bixby very much. Samsung introduced a new method to remap the button natively. However, there are still a bunch of neat apps that add even more functionality. Here are the best Bixby remapper apps! They should work on all major Samsung flagships from the Galaxy S8 on forward.

Bixbi Button Remapper is one of the more popular options for Bixby remapper apps. It does exactly what it says. You can remap the Bixby button to do basically whatever you want. That includes assigning it to Google Assistant, making it open any app, or it can even do stuff like toggle the flashlight. Bixby has a native remap function now, but it still can’t do stuff like toggle the flashlight. The app is free to try and you can get the premium version with a simple in-app purchase.
This app uses Bixby’s native remapping abilities to make it use Google Assistant. Generally, you can’t just assign Google Assistant to the button because Samsung is Samsung. This app acts as a quick shortcut that opens Google Assistant. Thus, you remap Bixby to this app and you can immediately summon Google Assistant with the Bixby app. There is a way to do this for free that we’ll cover later in the article. However, if you don’t like installing third party APKs that aren’t in the Play Store, this is a good way to do it too. Just make sure to test it within the refund period.
Bixby Remap is similar to Bixbi Button Remapper. It lets you change the button to do something else. It can set the Bixby button to another app or function, and some of them include a flashlight toggle, fast access to quick settings, media controls, or you can literally set it as a second power button if you want to. This app seems to either work for people or not and we don’t see a lot of between there. Give it a try and if it works for you, great!
Button Mapper isn’t a dedicated Bixby remapper app. However, it does support the Bixby button along with all of the other buttons on your phone. You can remap any of them to do basically whatever you want. You can make your volume keys into media playback controls or turn the Bixby button into a Google Assistant shortcut if you want to. It’s a little or miss sometimes, but it worked well for the Bixby button on our tester Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
This is something a little different. Some folks from over at XDA made a simple app that lets you easily remap the Bixby button to Google Assistant. You simply download and install the app on your phone. From there, use the stock Bixby remap capabilities to set this app as your single press action and you’re all set to go. It’s entirely free, but it does require you to download and install a third party APK from outside of the Play Store.
