Luminar v3.1 Brings Object and Facial Recognition to Accent AI Filter

Skylum has launched Luminar 3.1.0, the latest major update to the popular photo editing program. The Accent AI filter has been upgraded with content-aware object and facial recognition.

Luminar’s Accent AI provides over a dozen adjustments (e.g. shadows, highlights, contrast) and uses AI to help photographers cut tasks that once took minutes down to just seconds.

“Despite this, the current version of Accent AI might not be perfect for every photograph,” Skylum says. “With the Luminar 3.1.0 update, Accent AI 2.0 changes that, becoming completely human-aware. Accent AI 2.0 features facial and object recognition technology, helping photographers create a more realistic image.”

Here are a couple of teaser videos showing how the filter can now target the adjustments and selectively apply them.

Accent AI 2.0 also features more careful color correction and a smarter detail boost.

“If it can’t make an object in a photograph look better, it won’t be touched,” Skylum says. “With these smart technology improvements, photographers can rely on Accent AI more than ever before.”

Other improvements found in Luminar 3.1.0 include:

  • RAW + JPEG (Mac and Windows): “Easily organize file pairs in a more convenient way. Photographers can view as a single image and switch between the two versions easily. Organize and rate pairs simultaneously, no matter how you view the two formats.”
  • Improved Selective Sync (Mac and Windows): “Synchronize image adjustments across your photographs. Image layers, crop, erase, clone & stamp no longer affect syncing.”
  • Import Images (Windows): “You can now copy photos to a folder right from inside Luminar. Use this option to pull images from a memory card or other drive and copy them to a new destination.”
  • Gallery Selection (Windows): “Now it’s easier to precisely select and deselect photos in your Gallery. Select non-adjacent photos with Ctrl-click. Click outside a photograph to deselect all photos.”

Luminar 3.1.0 costs $70 for new years (with a free trial and 60-day money back guarantee), but Skylum is running a special offer through May 14th with the software priced at $60.
