According to The Korea Herald, the new United States release date for the Samsung Galaxy Fold will be determined in the next few days.
This information comes directly from Samsung CEO Koh Dong-jin, more commonly known as DJ Koh. In a quote to The Korea Herald, DJ said: “(The company) has reviewed the defect caused from substances (that entered the device), and we will reach a conclusion in a couple of days (on the launch).”
When pressed on whether or not that release date could land this month, DJ was shy with further details, simply saying, “We will not be too late.”
This is the first time DJ Koh has spoken directly about the Galaxy Fold since the debacle surrounding review units easily breaking and the subsequent delay of the foldable smartphone’s original April 26 release.
According to Samsung, it is working hard at fixing the three main problems with the device: strengthening the durability of exposed areas, minimizing the gap between the hinges and the protective coating, and ensuring that consumers do not accidentally remove that protective coating.
After early review units started breaking, Samsung had journalists send their Samsung Galaxy Fold devices back to the company. It is unclear if Samsung is going to send out new review units before the full yet-to-be-announced release.
