Samsung Galaxy S10, Plus, and S10e update hub: Samsung pulls update due to bugs

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

Update: May 28, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. ET: Earlier today, SamMobile reported that Samsung pulled the latest update, version ASE5, to its line of Galaxy S10 phones after folks on Reddit and XDA-Developers forums reported several serious bugs.

According to device owners who grabbed the update, third-party apps and the phone itself freeze from time to time. For example, the restart and power off buttons that show up after long-pressing the power button don’t respond for some.

Others reported issues like the phone restarting long after the restart button was pressed, the power button not locking the Galaxy S10, and the fingerprint sensor either not responding or taking a long time to unlock the phone.

Making matters worse, a factory reset or restart doesn’t seem to make the issues go away. There’s a fix that involves a full reboot with the power and volume down buttons, but it seems like the issues eventually return as the day goes on.

An alternative workaround involves switching off your Wi-Fi. According to an XDA-Developers forum user, the issues don’t show up when you’re only using cellular data.

If you already grabbed the update, you can try the aforementioned workarounds and let us know in the comments if they worked for you. Samsung will likely push out a subsequent update that will hopefully squash the issues mentioned earlier. We’ll keep you posted on when that update arrives.
