OnePlus 7 Pro 5G model is here, but only on one carrier in the UK

Today, United Kingdom-based wireless provider EE switched on its 5G network in six cities (via Android Police). Along with turning on 5G, it also launched its very first 5G device: the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. That makes the 7 Pro the first 5G-capable smartphone to sell commercially in the U.K.

The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is the same device you can buy globally from OnePlus.com — it just can also access 5G networks. It even comes in the same Nebula Blue color.

You can head to EE’s official site to buy a 5G 7 Pro right now if you live in the U.K. It will cost you 59 pounds (~$74) per month for the device with 10 GB of 5G data. Additionally, you’ll need to put in a down payment of 170 pounds (~$215) for the phone itself. There are other plans with more 5G data and lower down payments — you’ll need to shop around.

However, you can’t buy the device outright — you must add on a wireless plan and pay by-the-month. As such, we can’t really tell for certain the difference in total price between the regular OnePlus 7 Pro and its 5G counterpart.

The six cities EE’s 5G network works in at the moment are London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham, and Manchester. The 5G service won’t blanket those entire areas, though — you’ll only get 5G speeds in certain parts of the cities.

Eventually, EE will also sell other 5G smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Oppo Reno 5G, and LG V50 ThinQ 5G. There were plans for a 5G Huawei device, but that’s been put on hold for the time being.
