Samsung Galaxy M40 is confirmed with 32MP primary rear camera

Samsung is betting big on its India-exclusive M line, which focuses on the Millennial audience. So far, we’ve seen the Samsung Galaxy M10, M20, and M30, and now we have official confirmation of the Samsung Galaxy M40 (via 91Mobiles).

The confirmation of the Galaxy M40 comes from Asim Warsi, the senior vice president of smartphone business at Samsung India. The Samsung exec says that the Galaxy M40 will land in India on June 11 at 6:00 PM local time. Additionally, he mentioned some specifics about the M40’s camera system.

According to Warsi, the Samsung Galaxy M40 will come with a 32MP primary rear camera, likely paired with a secondary lens as we saw on the Galaxy M30. He also said there will be a front-facing sensor with a 16MP resolution.

Finally, he confirmed that the launch price for the M40 will be “around 20,000 rupees,” or about $287. That’s a bit of a step up from the Galaxy M30, which starts at 14,990 rupees (~$215).

The camera upgrades will likely be a welcome treat for interested buyers, as our review of the M30 found the camera system to be one of the weaker points of the device.

As for other details surrounding the Samsung Galaxy M40, we only have rumors and speculation to go on. Rumors suggest the device will land with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and Android 9 Pie out of the box.
