Google Cloud outage affects YouTube, Gmail, Snapchat and more

An outage that has affected part of the Google Cloud service is currently in progress as of this writing. The outage has cut off or slowed access to a number of first-party services, including YouTube, Gmail, and more. It has also affected third-party services that access Google Cloud, including Snapchat, Discord, and more.

The outage was first reported by users around 2:40 pm ET today. The Down Detector web site indicates that most of the outage reports are coming from the northeastern part of the United States. A post on the Google Cloud Status web site shows that the company has found what it believes to be the cause of the outage, but details were not revealed. The message added that it expects that Google Cloud services will return to normal “shortly”.
