Android Q beta 4 update temporarily halted due to installation woes

Android Q Beta 4 Live Wallpaper Preview

Google launched the Android Q beta 4 yesterday, bringing a number of features and tweaks to the new version of Android. Now, the Mountain View company has halted the update due to an installation-related issue.

The company revealed the news via its Android Beta Program reddit account, saying: “We’re aware of an issue with Android Q Beta 4 related to installing updates. We’ve temporarily paused Beta 4 OTA updates to all Pixel devices as we investigate the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will provide an update once the issue is resolved.”

So what could be the cause of this issue then? Well, Android Central reported that many Pixel 3 devices were failing to install the update. The update apparently causes the phone to get stuck while restarting or results in the phone dumping into recovery mode.

The outlet adds that affected users can either try to force rebooting (simply holding the power button down) or forcing the phone into recovery mode.

This isn’t a completely unexpected glitch though, as beta previews are meant to iron out bugs in the first place. Have you been affected by this issue though? Let us know in the comments!
