The OnePlus 7’s camera keeps getting better with latest update

OnePlus 7 camera update

First noticed by a user on the XDA-Developers forums, OxygenOS 9.5.5 is now rolling out to the OnePlus 7. The update comes in at 125MB and with build tags GM57AA for the India variant and GM57BA for the Europe variant.

OxygenOS 9.5.5 includes the May 2019 security patch, which puts the OnePlus 7 slightly behind the Pixel phones and Essential Phone that have the June 2019 security patch. More significantly, the update includes the following camera improvements:

  • Improved overall contrast and color performance
  • Improved accuracy and stability of auto focusing
  • Improved clarity and color of Nightscape
  • Improved brightness and clarity in extreme low light scene of Nightscape

The camera improvements are welcome, even if we didn’t encounter much of an issue with image quality. We were more disappointed at the lack of versatility due to the OnePlus 7 not having the OnePlus 7 Pro’s super wide-angle camera.

OxygenOS 9.5.5 is rolling out now as an incremental update. That means the update will initially be available for a few OnePlus 7 owners before eventually rolling out to more.
