In the early days of streaming, your only options were basically Netflix and Hulu. In 2019 there are a plethora of TV and movie streaming choices, with plenty more on the way. The good news is that bundles are quickly becoming the name of the game In fact, that’s pretty much one of the main selling points for the upcoming Apple TV Plus service. Disney also plans to get in on the bundling action, announcing plans to offer a bundle that includes Hulu, ESPN Plus and the upcoming and highly anticipated Disney Plus.
Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle: Price
Disney has confirmed that the price for signing up to the Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle will be $12.99 a month. Hulu is currently $5.99 a month (with ads), ESPN Plus costs $4.99 a month, and Disney is $6.99 — so you’re getting a total savings of $5. The bundle also costs the same as Netflix’s most popular Standard monthly subscription price.
Disney has not yet announced if it will offer a yearly price for the Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle. There’s no such plan for Hulu at the moment, but ESPN Plus is available for an annual fee of $49.99, and Disney Plus will have a $69.99 yearly subscription option. There’s also no word if the bundle deal will have an option to include the “no ads” price tier for Hulu, which normally costs $11.99 a month on its own.
Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle: Launch date and availability
The Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle will officially become available on November 12, which happens to be the same day as the launch of Disney Plus itself. Unfortunately, this bundle will only be available in the U.S., at least for the time being.
Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle: What can you watch?
The Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle will offer a ton of content for just $12.99. When it launches, Disney Plus will be the company’s family-based service, with access tons of its classic and more recent animated movies and TV shows. Disney Now will also offer movies and shows from its Marvel Studios and Star Wars divisions, and a selection of library content from National Geographic and its recently acquired 20th Century Fox movies and shows. In addition, Disney Plus will be the home to a ton of original and exclusive movies and shows on its own.
Hulu is already well established as a premier video streaming service. It will remain the best place to watch new TV episodes from Disney’s many broadcast and cable channels (ABC, Freeform, FX and others) the day after they are shown on those outlets, along with classic TV series and movies. Hulu will continue to have more adult content compared to what will be available on Disney Plus, along with its own original shows and movies, including the award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale and more.
ESPN Plus is, of course, the streaming service for sports fans. An extension of the ESPN cable channels, ESPN Plus offers fans both live and taped coverage of various sports events as well as original shows and specials that are only available on the service.
There are still a few questions that have not been answered about the Disney Plus-Hulu-ESPN Plus bundle, including if there will be one login and password to access all the services, if the Hulu “no ads” option will be available and if this bundle will launch overseas.
