Telling a joke is a great icebreaker. You can ease the tension, make someone laugh, and there are so many jokes out there. They are fairly easy to find, so this list was, naturally, fairly easy to write. Basically every website on the Internet has jokes so it’s hard to not find them when you want them. Here are the best joke apps for Android!
9GAG
Price: Free / Up to $9.99
9GAG is a general humor site with a lot of funny content. You can find memes, jokes, and fellow humor enthusiasts who are most likely cracking jokes of their own. The app is fairly simple to use. You simply browse around and find funny things. The advertising is rather obnoxious, but you get used to it after a while. Additionally, there is a premium version that removes the ads, but it can get fairly expensive. You can also use the website or follow the site on social media.
Browsers
Price: Free
Browsers aren’t usually in the conversation for joke apps, but they should be. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of joke sites on the Internet. Most of those websites don’t have dedicated joke apps and, thus, browsers are the only way to access those jokes. There are sites with family friendly jokes as well as adult only jokes. Plus, you can search for things like memes and check out sites with images as well. We linked Firefox for the sake of variety, but any browser should do the trick.
Dad Jokes
Price: Free / $1.19
Dad Jokes is a minimal, simple app packed to the brim with dad jokes. The app is completely comprised of one liners and the controls are super easy to use. We don’t have an exact number, but there are plenty. You can also add your own dad jokes to the app as you learn more and the app has theming as well. There are some typos and not every joke is a smash hit, but it’s the best dad jokes app on Google Play in our humble opinion.
Google Play Books (and similar apps)

One of the original methods of collecting jokes was through books. That tradition is still alive and well today. Most ebook markets have a metric ton of joke books, complete with reviews so you can find the best ones. Most ebook platforms let you download books for offline reading and they’re all fairly easy to use. We linked Google Play Books, but Amazon and Nook have very similar selections as well if you prefer those platforms.
Google Search

Google Assistant and Google Search are two more excellent joke apps. You can simply search for jokes and Google provides them through search. Additionally, Google Assistant will flat tell you jokes if you ask it to. Of course, Cortana, Alexa, Siri, and most other personal assistant apps do this as well. However, our readers tend to like Google Assistant over others so that’s the one we recommend.
iFunny
Price: Free / Up to $3.49
iFunny works a lot like 9GAG. You enter the app and browser around for many jokes, memes, funny stories, and other humorous content. It’s easy enough to use and there’s a fresh smattering of things everyday. Some hardcore community members are a bit unhappy with the app’s progress over the last few years. However, their dissatisfaction doesn’t affect functionality at all and the app does work. You can always uninstall it if you don’t like it.
Joke Book

Google Play has a bunch of generic joke apps. They all work about the same. The developers add thousands of jokes to an app and launch it. Joke Book is no different, but this one has a little more going for it than most generic joke apps. It boasts a collection of 3,000 jokes across several categories. There are a bunch of clean jokes with the occasional dirty one thrown in. These are all fairly standard jokes, but there is the occasional gem.
Pun Intended

Pun Intended is another one of the more generic joke apps on Google Play. This one focuses heavily on one liners, puns, and dad jokes. There are a bunch of categories, including a clean jokes section for family friendly laughs. You can also add your own jokes to the app for future reference. Those features put this a step above most of its competition. Plus, the app is free with no ads or in-app purchases, a rarity in this space.

Reddit is kind of an obvious choice for joke apps, but it’s a good one. There are a variety of humor-related subreddits. Some of them include a generic jokes subreddit along with subreddits for dad jokes, dark jokes, dirty jokes, and clean jokes. You can also find a plethora of meme subreddits and other funny stuff like video content, stand-up comedy, and more. Do be careful though because some of those joke subreddits can get really dark really fast. Reddit also has an optional Reddit Gold subscription with additional features for $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year, but it is entirely optional.
YouTube
Price: Free / $12.99 per month
YouTube is another fairly obvious choice for joke apps. There are a ton of comedy YouTubers out there and you can catch sketches from various TV shows along with bits and pieces of stand-up comedy routines. There aren’t any specific YouTube personalities, but if you search for these things, they are fairly easy to find. Everybody already knows how YouTube works. You can remove ads and enable background play for $12.99 per month if you want.
Bonus: Any social media app

Social media is a decent spot for comedy. Facebook has a variety of groups and pages with tons and tons of jokes. You can find dark and dirty stuff or clean and cheery stuff, it’s entirely up to you. Likewise, Twitter has its fair share of jokers, although they are a bit harder to find since so many people try way too hard to go viral with every post. Still, most of the funny stuff I’ve ever found, I found on social media while scrolling through. Just ignore the political stuff and you should have a good time.
