The long-rumored Motorola Razr reboot — which supposedly will feature a foldable display on the interior of the device — was supposed to land this past summer. However, summer came and went without a peep from Motorola.
Now, according to a scoop from CNET, it appears the phone is still on the way and could land before the year closes out.
Unlike the other notable foldable devices this year — specifically the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X — the Motorola Razr is expected to be more of a mid-range device. Although it likely will be pretty expensive simply due to the foldable display (rumors suggest a $1,500 price tag), its specs could be of a much lower-grade as compared to the Galaxy Fold and the Mate X.
However, Motorola has a bit of a hill to climb when it comes to releasing a foldable device. The initial problems plaguing the release of the Samsung Galaxy Fold got the supposed foldable trend off to a very rocky start, and even the “fixed” Galaxy Fold is still facing problems. Huawei still hasn’t launched the Mate X, likely due to the Fold’s bad publicity.

Motorola might have a workaround in mind though. According to CNET, the Razr might only make an appearance in 2019 during a press event, but the device might not actually hit store shelves for a while. In other words, the press and general public will get to see that the phone exists, but it could be a long while before anyone is able to buy one.
According to the most recent rumors, the Motorola Razr could ship with the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, either 64GB or 128GB of storage, and a 2,730mAh battery. That would all be housed in the familiar Razr-style flip phone housing with a foldable display on the interior and a small “peek” display on the front.
