Disney+ is now available on Samsung TVs

Best answer: Yes, Disney has reached an agreement with Samsung to distribute Disney+ on its smart TVs on models running Samsung’s Tizen OS all the way from 2016 to its latest TVs. For TVs that are not, there’s always the Chromecast.

  • Marvel on demand: Disney+ (From $7/mo at Disney+)
  • Cast away: Chromecast ($35 at Amazon)

It’s finally here!

Disney+ is now available in many places and platforms, including on most newer model Samsung TVs. Basically, if you have a Samsung TV from 2016 or newer that is running Samsung’s Tizen OS, then you will be able to download the Disney+ app and watch it natively. Great news!

Other ways to watch on a Samsung TV

If your Samsung TV doesn’t see the Disney+ app at launch, there are still a good number of ways to still get all the great shows Disney+ offers regardless of what type of TV you have:

  • Android TV consoles like NVIDIA Shield TV
  • Amazon Fire TV devices
  • Chromecast
  • Apple TV
  • Xbox One
  • PlayStation 4
  • Roku streaming players

What is Disney+?

Fans of Disney long been asking for a way to watch the favorite classics and their newest movies & TV shows in one place — Disney+ is that answer. Instead of searching across the various streaming services available to find the shows you want to watch, we finally have a single place to go to fill that void. At launch, everything ever made by Disney won’t be available, but there will be quite the list of content that will be.

Disney plans to have hundreds of movies and television shows at launch ranging from decades-old classics to recent releases like Captain Marvel. They have stated that the goal is to have at least 500 movies and 7,500 episodes of TV available to stream through Disney+.

Disney+ will be about more than just classic Disney and Pixar shows. It will also have content from Marvel, Star Wars, 20th Century Fox, and National Geographic. They also plan to offer movies and television series that will be specific to Disney+ like the Mandalorian, She-Hulk, Lizzie McGuire, Hawkeye, and more.

Even if Disney+ isn’t available on you particular Samsung TV initially, hopefully, it shows up in the app store soon. Thankfully though, Disney+ will be on a lot of other platforms to make accessing it on your Samsung TV a snap.
