Realme entered Europe earlier this year, and has delivered quite a few devices since then. The Realme 5 is one device that hasn’t made its way to the EU just yet though, but the brand has finally revealed launch details.

The company has announced that the Realme 5 will be available in Europe from Black Friday at a promotional price of €159 (~$176). The phone will be available for €169 (~$187) after December 2.

Buy the new device and you’re getting a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, a 6.5-inch HD+ screen (with waterdrop notch), and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging.

The Realme 5 also delivers a quad rear camera setup, featuring a 12MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide snapper, 2MP portrait lens, and a 2MP macro camera. Other details worth knowing include a rear fingerprint scanner, ColorOS 6 atop Android Pie, a 3.5mm port, and microUSB connectivity.

Editor’s Pick

The Realme 5 undercuts Xiaomi’s budget-focused Redmi Note 8T by roughly €20 in the likes of Spain, and the two phones seem pretty evenly matched at first glance.

Both phones pack a Snapdragon 665 processor and quad rear cameras, but Realme’s device offers more RAM and storage for the price, as well as a much bigger battery. Xiaomi’s device offers a lot of advantages compared to the Realme 5 though, such as USB-C connectivity, NFC, faster charging, a higher resolution main camera, and a higher resolution screen.

If one thing is clear though, it’s that Europeans on the hunt for a good budget phone can’t go wrong with either pick really. And competition between the two brands is likely to result in even better devices in 2020. You can check the Realme 5 European listing via the button below.
