Apple iPad Pro 2020 renders leak: Here’s what Android tablets will have to beat

The Android tablet market is a bleak thing to behold these days, especially in the premium sector where aside from Samsung’s noble efforts there’s hardly anything to get excited about. Unless Chrome OS tablets finally pick up the slack, it seems the iPad will once again rule the tablet world in 2020 — and the newly leaked iPad Pro 2020 is shaping up to be tough competition yet again.

Thanks to the folks over at iGeeksBlog and @OnLeaks, we’ve got our first look at (unofficial) renders of the iPad Pro 2020 model that is expected to arrive in 11-inch and 12.9-inch variants.

The biggest takeaway is that the iPad Pro 2020 is essentially a souped-up version of the current 2018 model, only this time it’s apparently outfitted with the same infamous stove top-style triple camera module we saw on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series.

This rumor has been flying around for a few months now, so it’s seeming more and more likely that the iPad Pro 2020 will have the best camera you can get on a tablet. Does anyone really need an ultra wide-angle and telephoto camera on a tablet? That’s another question entirely.

Both iPad Pro 2020 models are expected to be powered by an improved version of Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset that also debuted in 2019’s iPhones.

Other suggested features include a glass back on the larger 12.9-inch model and dimensions of 248 x 178.6 x 5.9mm for the 11-inch iPad Pro, though the thickness of the latter will reportedly reach 7.8mm when accounting for the camera.

We’re well overdue new iPad Pros at this point as the last refresh came back at the tail end of 2018. The new iPad Pro 2020 is expected to drop in Q1 2020.
