Jabra’s sporty new true wireless earbuds cost $199

Jabra announced a pair of new audio offerings at CES, both new entries in its Elite wireless range of devices, the Jabra Elite 45h and Elite Active 75t.

The Jabra Elite 45h ($99) are wireless on-ear headphones that don’t cost an arm and a leg, something of a rarity among products announced at CES. The Elite Active 75t are a sportified version of the previously announced Elite 75t true wireless earbuds, and at $199, they’re decidedly less cheap.

These new true wireless earbuds bring a host of improvements over the Jabra Elite Active 65t, the company’s previous workout ‘buds. The Elite Active 75t features 7.5 hours of playback time on a single charge, increased to 28 hours with the included charging case — apparently an 89% increase over the previous model. These earbuds are now IP57 rated, meaning they’re waterproof and resistant to dust and sweat, which is perfect for all kinds of exercise. They also feature redesigned tips meant for improved isolation, so you won’t have to worry about the distracting grunts of other people at the gym.

In Q2 2020, the Elite Active 75t will also gain access to Jabra MySound, a feature debuting with the Jabra Elite 45h. MySound was developed by Jabra and its sister company GN Hearing, which specializes in hearing aids, and it’s meant to tailor audio to individual listeners needs. Once the headset is available, you’ll be able to set up MySound using the Jabra Sound+ app by taking a test that uses a series of beeps to determine an individual’s ideal sound and then tailors the headphones audio profile to match.

Outside of the gym, Jabra is pushing the Elite 45h as a great on-the-go option. For just $99, these on-ear headphones bring 40mm dynamic drivers, a two-microphone array, and Google Assistant, Siri, and Amazon Alexa integration to a lightweight frame. They can handle more than 40 hours of playback on a single charge, and according to Jabra 15 minutes of charging will get you 8 hours of battery life.

“Portability is the name of the game,” said Jabra CEO Rene Svendsen-Tune in a press release. Flitting from work to home and commuting several times a day means quality music and call experience on-the-go is a must.”

Svendsen-Tune describes the Jabra Elite 45h as “the most portable, long-lasting, powerful and compact headphones that are as light on your wallet as they are in your hands.”

With battery life that long, a foldable frame that weighs just 6 ounces, and Bluetooth 5.0 support, it’s not hard to see why. The Jabra Elite 45h and Elite Active 75t come out February 2020 for $99 and $199 respectively, available from Amazon, Best Buy, and Jabra in a wide range of colors.
