We have good news and bad news about the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

Samsung Galaxy Buds layed out case closed

Since renders of Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Plus leaked only a couple of weeks ago, more information has surfaced regarding the company’s latest addition to its true wireless earbud line. This information comes via SamMobile, citing “reliable sources,” and it features both good and news.

The good news is it looks like the latest Galaxy Buds will earn its Plus suffix partially thanks to its increased battery size. The Galaxy Buds Plus should rock an 85mAh battery compared to the Galaxy Buds‘ 58mAh battery. This should give the Buds Plus a total usage time of 12 hours on a single charge. On top of that, we expect Samsung has made solid sound and call quality improvements to these earbuds, which is a welcome upgrade.

Unfortunately, there is some bad news too. For those of you hoping for Samsung to add active noise canceling to the Galaxy Buds Plus, you will be disappointed to know that probably won’t be the case. This is particularly disappointing considering Apple’s latest true wireless offering — the AirPods Pro — features pretty reliable ANC. The design of the Galaxy Buds Plus should provide adequate passive noise canceling, but that still doesn’t make up for the lack of ANC, which is a feature many users want and expect from premium headphones and earbuds.

We expect Samsung will launch the Galaxy Buds Plus next month at its Unpacked 2020 event, and we will find out more information then. Samsung should also launch this year’s upcoming flagship handsets — the Galaxy S20 series — at the event, so stay tuned for more Samsung coverage in the coming weeks.
