Fitbit is finally fixing one of my biggest Versa 2 complaints

fitbit versa 2 watch faces sleep tools update fitbit smartwatch update

If you’ve ever used a Fitbit smartwatch, you’d know how frustrating it can be to do something as simple as switching watch faces. Fitbit smartwatches can only hold one watch face at a time, and the syncing process to choose a new one takes ages. I’m happy to report that Fitbit OS 4.1, which will be available on December 3, will fix this issue.

Once the update is installed, you’ll be able to load up to five different watch faces on your Fitbit smartwatch and quickly switch between them. It’s a small thing, but it’s definitely a welcome change.Fitbit OS version 4.1 will roll out to the Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Versa, and Fitbit Versa Lite. Aside from the watch face picker, those smartwatches will also receive the following features:

  • Smart wake mode: This new sleep mode will gently wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle within a 30-minute period before your pre-set alarm.
  • On-device Sleep Score: Fitbit’s Sleep Score feature used to only be accessible in the Fitbit app, but now it will be added to the Dashboard on your Fitbit smartwatch.
  • Exercise app improvements: The on-device exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new list view.
  • Battery notification: When your Fitbit’s battery is low, the always-on display and vibration motor will automatically be disabled.
  • New Agenda app: Fitbit is finally bringing an Agenda app to Fitbit smartwatches.

The Fitbit Versa 2 is getting some additional features in this new update:

  • Always-on display fixes: Fitbit is adding five additional watch faces to the always-on display. Color is also being added, as well as health and fitness stats.
  • Alexa, start my workout: You can now ask Amazon Alexa to start a workout for you. Just say, “Start a run with Fitbit” and Alexa will start the run exercise.
  • Improved heart rate tracking: Fitbit is rolling out a new algorithm to its Versa 2 heart rate sensor. This should make the sensor more accurate by using machine learning to recognize the user’s unique heart rate signature.

Are you a Fitbit Premium user? If so, Fitbit is rolling out some updates to its premium fitness platform. Premium users will now have access to wellness reports, which can be downloaded and shared with your doctor or medical professional. New workouts, a new mindfulness to help with relaxation, and a variety of new challenges are also being added to the platform.

Again, this new Fitbit smartwatch update will begin rolling out Tuesday, December 3.
