Wishlisting games you wanna play on steam has become a big part of being a PC gamer for me. I currently have 55 + 2 games on my Steam wishlist, I’ve added 2 more games to my library as I was writing this article. To be honest, recently my wishlist has been growing pretty rapidly. It’s because I am constantly looking at pc gaming news and adding new games much faster than I am completing my existing game library. Thankfully, I’m not one of those gamers who keep buying new games leaving behind a heap of games they have not completed yet. Typically, I’ll complete the 3 or 4 games that I have in my library, I’d then uninstall those and get a couple of new games from genres I love and I might get a couple of games from new genres that I don’t play as much with. Still despite all of my efforts I sadly cannot get through all of my games as fast as I’m adding new ones to my wishlist.
Anyways, wishlisting can also be considered as a rating system for the biggest upcoming games. Wishlisting upcoming games from indie developers can help them out both morally and financially. That way, they can get noticed by publishers and the number of people who have wishlisted their game will serve as an audience interest metric for investors and publishers.
So, what are the most wishlisted games right now? Well, it just so happens that the game with the most interest worldwide is a game where you play as a cute little lost cat! That’s wonderful!
The game that I’m talking about is “Stray”, which will release on July 19th for both the PC and Playstation. The second place goes to “The Day Before” the extremely suspicious game, which promises so much: advanced graphics, gameplay, etc. but actively looks for volunteer game developers instead of hiring a team of experienced game devs. Third place goes to “Hollow Knight: Silksong” the follow-up game to “Hollow Knight”. In this new game, you’ll be playing as a Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest who the players encountered as a boss in the first game. You can find the rest of the list below, I’d say there are a couple of pretty obvious inclusions but also a couple of surprise games that I never heard of and did not expect to see there.
This list is quite interesting to look at, however, let’s focus on the cutest and most demanded game of all: Stray. In “Stray”, for the first time ever, you’ll be able to play as a stray cat who’s lost, alone, and separated from family. You’ll find yourself in a pretty sad situation and must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city. As the Stray Steam page listing goes “Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats, and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by curious droids and dangerous creatures.” It sounds like a very fun and interesting adventure awaits us. If that description wasn’t enough you can check out the Stray Gameplay Trailer. This unique and fun adventure/exploration game is also on sale until its release date! It’s a smart move to encourage buyers to preorder the game.
I personally think that I’m going to love this game. I’m a cat person, I adore cats, and to be able to play as a cat in such an interesting adventure game, that looks good, is simply awesome! I really hope that the game launches more or less polished and that the gameplay won’t be bogged down with bugs and errors. It looks like many gamers are going to have lots of fun with this one.
