A post on Chinese social media site Weibo (via 9to5Google) has revealed that OnePlus is prepping to unveil some mysterious new screen technology. The company sent out press invites to a January 13 event about its recent display developments, but it doesn’t give us any official information about what we will see.
At CES 2020, OnePlus showed off the OnePlus Concept One, a concept device featuring electrochromic glass to hide the rear-facing cameras. We don’t suspect this upcoming event will have anything to do with this tech, but it’s interesting to see the company make two announcements like this within the same month.
We suspect OnePlus will most likely announce the inclusion of 120Hz panels in its future devices. We’ve already heard rumors that the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro could come with this high refresh rate display, so it’s within reason to believe the company could unveil the tech soon.

We could also see under-display front-facing camera tech as we’ve recently seen from Oppo, but a 120Hz panel seems more likely. In the end, all of this is just speculation until OnePlus releases more information.
What do you think? Will OnePlus’ new screen technology be higher refresh rate displays, or do you think it will unveil something totally different? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
