The Royole Mirage smart speaker has a wraparound touchscreen display

Royole was the company that launched the first foldable smartphone with a flexible display in early 2019 with the Royole FlexPai. Today at CES 2020, Royole announced its second product that uses its flexible display technology. However, it’s not another smartphone. It’s a smart speaker that has a touchscreen display that wraps all the way around its body.

The Royole Mirage Smart Speaker uses a 7.8-inch flexible AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,440. At the very least, the use of such a screen will certainly allow the speaker to generate some cool display graphics. A Twitter post offers some more hardware specs for the speaker. In terms of audio, it will have three 48mm full-range drivers with 30W RMS, along with a passive radiator. All of that is supposed to generate 360 degree sound. It will also have two far-field microphones for voice commands. As you might expect, the speaker supports Amazon’s Alexa voice and AI technology.

The Royole speaker will also have a 5MP camera sensor, which we suspect could be used for home security purposes. It runs on Qualcomm’s APQ8053 (Snapdragon 524) processor. The speaker will also have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. As of this writing, it’s not clear what operating system it uses, but we think it’s possible it runs on some form of Android. The Royole Mirage will go on sale in the second quarter of 2020. It won’t be cheap, however, as it will have a price point of $899.

The company also announced the RoWrite 2, a second-generation version of its smart notebook. It’s up to 40 percent smaller and lighter than the original RoWrite, but the RoWrite 2 will still allow you to make handwritten notes and artwork on the pad and convert them to digital files via a smartphone app. The RoWrite 2 will come in several different color choices as well. It will go on sale in March for $129.
